Definition: A crystalline material where there is atomic disorder on at least one Wyckoff site.
Examples: An alloy of SnTe and GeTe has lower thermal conductivity than either parent compound.

Alloys should only apply to materials where all atoms in the composition are able to mix with each other, i.e., any atom can be on any site.
